About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-driven Superintendent Production, to join our Tom Price Operations Leadership team. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to further develop your people leadership skills whilst harnessing your technical knowledge to support the wider Mine Operations team. You will have a supportive leader that will not only set you up for success in this role but will continue to work with you to develop your career aspirations.

Reporting to the Mine Operations Manager, and working in a challenging and exciting environment, within Tom Price’s Mine Operations department, you will be

  • Responsible for the development of a strong safety culture ensuring adherence to all relevant statutory regulations and Rio Tinto Iron Ore standards and policies
  • Participating in planning meetings to ensure proper safety protocols are being followed (down high haul design, intersection design, ramp design)
  • Providing pit hygiene support to other superintendents and supervisors on site
  • Taking ownership of pit inspections, regulatory requirements and reporting
  • Providing support and training for Mine operation safety representatives
  • Managing optimisation projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leading, developing and motivating future quarry manager ticket holders to exceed expectations and targets, while building meaningful succession pathways
  • Working collaboratively and fostering relationships with key partners to achieve wider business objectives

What you’ll bring

  • Unrestricted WA Quarry Manager certificate
  • Proactive with a strong commitment in driving a safe working culture
  • A desire to build and lead engaged teams
  • Understanding of the mining industry from both an operational and technical perspective
  • Mining operational optimisation knowledge and/or experience
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve safety and operational outcomes and delivery of targets

Where you will be working

Tom Price is located in the central Pilbara, west of Karijini National Park and is our original Pilbara mine, currently employing residential and fly in fly out employees. It is known as one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, two primary schools a hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.
