About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Production Kwinana, you will provide leadership and guidance to a large team operating and monitoring of plant equipment and machinery supporting the mineral refining and processing at Nickel West’s Kwinana Refinery.

This role will be based at our Kwinana site and offers exceptional lifestyle opportunities.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for a Major Hazard Facility (MHF)
  • Ensure that operational activities are conducted in a continuous, safe and productive way
  • Respond to and manage emergencies
  • Perform first level operational activities to maximise safety and safeguard production targets in an MHF
  • Conduct routine operational and safety activities to effectively prepare for and manage operational workload. 
  • Identify and assess risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcome
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems
  • Drive business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance
  • Strive to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste

About You

  • Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering Degree qualified with experience in engineering, production in a process environment and the requirements for Major Hazard Facilities
  • Strong focus and commitment to upholding operating disciplines
  • Demonstrated foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery
  • High level communication and influencing skills, including the ability to produce quality, concise reports and presentations
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with advanced problem-solving skills
  • Highly influential with strong engagement skills to generate ideas and lateral solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to balance tactical deliverables with a strategic outlook         
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders in complex environments and have accomplished change on a global scale
  • Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
