We are looking for a Superintendent – Project Data Management to lead the transformation of document management practices across the APAC portfolio of over 45 projects and studies, spanning all of Rio Tinto’s product groups.

As a key member of the owner’s project team, the role is responsible for leading the APAC team to optimise data management processes, simplify workflows, reduce duplication of workflows and foster a culture of excellence and a mindset of continuous improvement in service delivery. This role will focus on leading the team’s capability to remove waste within our document management processes, eliminate duplication, and automate processes and systems to ensure efficiency and scalability, whilst maintaining alignment with project and corporate objectives.

The successful candidate will bring together and elevate the document control team’s culture and capabilities to achieve world-class service delivery for major projects. Collaboration with key stakeholders, including engineering teams, engineering managers, and project leadership, will be critical to success.

Reporting to the Manager – Project Data Management, you will be: 

  • Lead and inspire the document management team to transform how processes are delivered, be open and agile with new ways of working and ensure alignment with owner’s team values and objectives.
  • Act as a champion for change, leading the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to actively seek out opportunities to enhance efficiency, whilst inspiring the team to continuously improve.
  • Ensure the document management team delivers high-quality, timely, and accurate services that meet project needs and exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Establish and maintain metrics to measure and continuously improve team performance and service levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the engineering team, engineering managers, and project leadership.
  • Lead the optimization of document management systems, with a focus on maximizing the functionality of InEight Document.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Significant previous experience in document management or a related field, preferably within major projects in the mining or resources sector.
  • Proven experience leading teams and driving transformational change in document management or similar functions.
  • Strong understanding of document control processes and systems, with specific expertise in InEight Document or equivalent platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organization.
  • A track record of optimizing processes, eliminating duplication, and implementing automation in document management.

It would be desirable if you have:

  • Experience working in an owner’s team environment, with a focus on governance and compliance
  • A working understanding of owners’ team roles and responsibilities within document control, as part of the client/owner relationship. Specifically, the difference between owners and client scope within major projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering and project execution workflows, including design, procurement, and construction phases.
