Role overview:
We are looking or an experienced, confident and team focused land access and tenement expert to join the Acquisitions and Tenements team in the Exploration department. The successful candidate will be someone who has broad and deep experience with relevant legislation combined with a strong leadership capability and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver key tenure for Fortescue’s Pilbara development projects per requirements set by Project Approvals group
- Develop and implement strategy for complex land access requirements for the studies team
- Maintain productive relationships with Fortescue’s Pilbara competitors and other mining/exploration companies
- Providing specialist legislation and land access advice
- Working in a wider team to support diverse stakeholders
- Managing a small team
Skills and personal attributes required:
- Confident communicator
- Ability to work under pressure and take decisive action
- Willingness to go the extra mile to complete critical tasks
- Ability to coordinate technical negotiations and willingness dive into detail where required
- Collaborative, selfless mindset and a focus on building and developing a diverse team
Experience required:
>10 years' experience in roles involving one or more of the following:
- Substantial tenement and land experience
- Government relations
- Tenement management
- Mining approvals within industry or Government
- Legal work
- Contact management
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in dynamic work environment
- Demonstrated success at managing competing priorities and managing internal relationships
