Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex. Perth (but will consider 4D/3R,4D/3R,8D/6R or 4D/3R,8D/6R,8D/6R)
The Superintendent Resource Definition is responsible for providing effective onsite leadership and management of the Solomon resource definition teams. The role is critical to achieve drilling plans as required by the business and to support the effort to increase Ore Body Knowledge (OBK). Drilling plans are based on LOM, 5Y and 2Y Plans.
This is a high-profile role requiring strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, team leadership is one of the key fundamentals for the success of this role.
Key Accountabilities:
- Leading and developing a strong and capable site team
- Contract management with a high focus on safety and teams well being
- Understanding mine plans and necessity to adhere to the mine plan directed drilling sequence(s)
- Extending the life of mine by developing new areas through near mine exploration and opportune drilling
- Ensure monthly and quarterly assessments are completed and fed into the wider team for budgets, fleet planning and scheduling
- Development of annual drilling plans for resource definition and maintaining compliance to plans
- Strong focus on systems implementation, standardisation and improved data management, analysis and reporting
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Experienced people leader with experience leading a diverse team, with sound understanding of drilling, contract management and geology
- A passion for developing others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding and guiding
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence key stakeholders (contract management)
- Experience in supervising and planning drilling operations
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mining Engineering, Geology or other technical related disciplines is highly desirable
- The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of industry standard HSE systems
