Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Manager – Health, Safety, Security & Risk, the Superintendent Safety & Safety Culture is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of site safety and safety culture systems in line with industry best practice and legal and corporate compliance.
The Superintendent will Coordinate the development and implementation of function work programs, KPIs, and improvement initiatives in the areas of Safety, and Safety Culture which align with the site vision and operational strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure effective and timely processes are in place to maintain compliance with all legal requirements relating to all areas of responsibility and deliver optimal services to the satisfaction of operational customers.
- Benchmark all areas of responsibility across industry sectors and ensure Cadia implements best practices.
- Ensure adequate resources are available and implemented to effectively conduct programs across all areas of responsibility.
- Develop and report against performance measures for determining the effectiveness of work programs in all areas of responsibility.
- Reporting of accurate statistical data to site management on a monthly basis to facilitate sound business decision making.
- Build and promote a continuous improvement framework with departmental responsibilities, using the Edge and Ripple tools, and ensure efficiency targets are set, tracked, and achieved annually.
- Completion of monthly reports and provision of timely and accurate data for relevant internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensure functional areas have the right number of people with the right skills and qualifications to allow them to perform the required work programs safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for NewSafe Coaches, and Safety Culture Advisors.
- Ability to be dynamic to enable the departments requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a strong people leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will role model Newsafe Behaviours and Newcrest’s Values and Practices.
You will also possess the following:
- Formal business-based degree qualification (e.g., business management, people leadership) or technical degree qualification (e.g. WHS, Risk, Assurance).
- Experience in an operational governance, corporate compliance, or risk management role for a medium to large corporation.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a heavy industry environment – Highly regarded.
