Superintendent Short Term Planning – Iron Bridge

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s newest operation and is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex. Perth

We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join our Iron Bridge operations planning team as a Superintendent responsible for short term mine planning.

Reporting to the Manager Operations Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Drill and Blast Engineering, Daily and Weekly Planning teams at our Iron Bridge Mine. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders as well as the ability to articulate complex risks / opportunities to both technical and non-technical teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a technical team responsible for Daily & Weekly Planning Functions, along with Drill and Blast Engineering
  • Effective collaboration into formulation of 3 Monthly Mine Plan and efficient execution
  • Weekly and daily blend plans aligned with longer term plans and optimised with known geometallurgical parameters
  • Active involvement in the development of Fortescue’s in house Fleet Management System
  • Accurate EOM physicals reconciliation for the operation in Delta
  • Safety leadership to provide safe system of work, processes, and tools to crew members
  • Provide proactive leadership to ensure safe workplace, system, and tools to operation support team members

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mining Engineering/Geology/Survey/Met
  • Proven experience of leading and developing engaged, empowered and efficient teams
  • Capability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation including our contractor partners
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in systems and mining operations
  • Ability to find solutions to problems under pressure through engagement of multiple stakeholders
  • At least 5 years’ experience, preferably in large open pit iron ore mining with exposure to production
  • Excellent communication, time management, organisational and continuous improvement skills
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a team of technical personnel
