About the Role
We have an opportunity for a leader with strong focus on safety to join our Shutdown Execution team at Newman Operations. Reporting to the Manager – Fixed Plant Maintenance the successful applicant will scope, prepare and execute maintenance shutdowns
In this role you will be responsible for the following;
- Drive the safe execution of shutdowns through effective risk management in planning and execution phase, and close collaboration with contracting partners and support functions, time in field, and establishing the safety standards and safe systems of work.
- Develop and foster an inclusive work environment with a caring, collaborative and high performing culture.
- Lead a diverse team of shutdown supervisors, coordinators and contractors in the achievement of maintenance and productivity targets through regular interactions, development planning, communication of the KPI’s and regular performance reviews and feedback.
- Oversee the compliance with the shutdown management framework and core routines for the 16 weekly rolling shutdowns.
- Lead the continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of lessons learnt from post shutdown execution reviews.
- Contribute to the development of the 5YP and 2Y Work Management Budget. (foreseeable & unforeseeable corrective)
- Assist the Contracts team in managing the services contracts through timely feedback on performance and partnership with the contractors to close any performance gaps.
- Monitoring and control of the shutdown planning and actual costs against the budget and elimination of waste in shutdown execution.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced leader with respect to the safe execution of shutdowns and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. In addition you have the following attributes:
- A safety focused leader who is able to champion safe work practices, set and maintain a high standard within the workplace and hold stakeholders to the same high standard.
- A highly effective leader who is able to manage time and prioritises in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience is enhancing culture and providing a psychologically safe and inclusive work environment.
- Sound technical knowledge of Fixed Plant Maintenance is advantageous.
- Strong communicator who is able to form trusted relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Location
With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a 5/2/4/3 roster. You will be working across both sites at Newman Operations. Newman Operations West is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide, making it the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. Newman Operations East is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
If you would prefer the residential option, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
