Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. We are currently expanding our operations to supply low carbon emission Nickel to the growing battery and renewables sector. We have recently signed an off-take agreement with Tesla and have significant growth plans to increase supply of this forward facing commodity.

We are currently seeking the skills of an experienced Maintenance Professional to join the Nickel West team based south of Perth, in Kwinana.

In the capacity of Superintendent Shutdown, you will drive and oversee the execution of shutdown activities to safeguard production and maintain the safety of operations at BHP.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Defining shutdown deliverables, milestones and tasks, and communicating critical aspects of the plan with key stakeholders
  • Develop and plan shutdown scope and mobilise resources
  • Schedule the scope of work, identify and resolve SIMOP clashes, and define the critical path for shutdown resource allocation
  • Execute shutdown activities, and monitor and manage the overall shutdown process

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally be an experienced leader with demonstrated success in a similar role. You focus on safety combined with your ability to identify and assess operational risk will be key to your success in this role. Your highly developed communication and influencing skills will enable you to build collaborative relationships across departments and role model operational excellence.

You will also ideally possess:

  • Proven track record in safety and risk management improvement in an industrial environment
  • Strong focus on collaboration and partnership
  • Previous experience in developing a high performance safety culture
  • The ability to lead, influence and mentor your team accordingly in order to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated resilience and an ability to work with autonomy
