About the Role
As a Superintendent – Smelting, you will be responsible for managing a small team of smelting process analysts, delivering 24/7 monitoring of reduction lines across Pacific Operations smelters, New Zealand Aluminium, located in Tiwai, New Zealand, Boyne Smelters, located in Queensland and Bell Bay Aluminium, located in Tasmania.The team of experienced reduction line analysts provide continuous remote monitoring function to the sites. This work is aligned with site using a service level agreement, where the analysts work with site operations to minimise reaction times to process variations through an agreed escalation plan.
Responsibilities
- Leading the reduction line monitoring team in a safe and cost-effective manner, coaching team members on performance and sets clear objectives.
- Engages team members in promoting the highest safety and operational standards.
- Maintain effective communication with the team to ensure commitments are met, aligned to the agreed site technical parameters;
- Engages proactively and drives improved collaboration across technical teams to support improved service to identify risks and opportunities that are impacting operational stability.
- Develop and drive overall improvement and step change with key stakeholders across technical and site operational teams to build on the service and drives in new improvements as developed for remote monitoring;
- Co leads the process and approach to define the roadmap for this service and function across the smelters for continued operational improvements.
About You
- A dedicated commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct leadership experience, leading across crews and multiple teams, multi site stakeholders.
- Certificate or Degree in engineering related discipline, or significant experience in smelting operations.
- Experience in a smelting operations, preferably directly in reduction area. Project management experience is well regarded considering the improvement project focus.
- Previous experience leading a team, building a team and managing multiple stakeholders across continuous change.
- Effective communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Continuous improvement mindset and demonstrated experience to drive continuous improvement.
