The Rio Tinto Aluminium Pacific Operations Smelting assets utilise a number of bespoke, and industry standard production systems to support the operational processes. We are looking for a Superintendent – Smelting Systems to play a key role in the DevOps Smelting Systems team by leading the site-based Ops Smelting Systems teams at each of the managed Pacific Operations smelters.
This role will also be responsible for overseeing deployment of applications and services associated with critical production and operational systems.
This vacancy offers the unique ability to be based from our central Brisbane Hub or any of our 3 Aluminium Smelters;
- Brisbane Hub QLD
- Boyne Smelter – Gladstone QLD
- Bell Bay – Launceston TAS
- NZAS – Invercargill NZ
About you
This role is a great opportunity for a leader that is focused on driving Agile practices, innovation, continuous improvement and systems optimisation. Working Monday to Friday and reporting through to the Manager – Smelting Technical Support and Production Systems, you will be:
- Experienced in Agile and DevOps practices.
- A leader with experience managing technical team members driving collaboration across operating sites, Dev and IS&T teams.
- A leader with an energetic, positive and enthusiastic approach with a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Able to demonstrate operational experience with, implementation, management and support of control and operational systems.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary education with appropriate degree in business, technology or closely related discipline / experience.
- A solid background in production systems / operational technologies, including experience in the following:
- Agile and DevOps methodologies for iterative delivery and continuous improvement
- ITIL for effective Service Management and Support
- Oracle Products (Developer Suite, PL/SQL, Database)
- SQL Server Products (Data Base, Integration Service, Analysis Services, Reporting Services)
- Server and network administration across diverse environments
- Mobile Technology Hardware and Application Support
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Proven ability to lead and support technical teams across multiple remote sites
- Strong project management skills, with a focus on delivery and stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated ability to solve business challenges with the use of operational technology, while also managing costs and risk.
- Working knowledge of process control and/or manufacturing execution systems.
- Heavy industry experience.
