Work location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Manager Materials Management, the Supply Superintendent role in collaboration with the Asset Management team will develop a project to focus on the optimisation of working capital in the business.
The Supply Superintendent will co-lead the project under the guidance of a cross-functional Steering Committee. The team will develop key project initiatives using an initial data set to show where the opportunities are and then prioritise effort. Optimisation progress will be tracked through the Steering Committee and, periodically, through the Advanced Business Drivers (ABD) forum in front of the Leadership Team. This project clearly has prominence in the business, and it is driven by a desire to change and address waste.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct process mapping and related root cause analysis of inventory related processes to identify inefficiencies and related improvement opportunities
- Root cause analysis and prioritisation and program and project management of the implementation of a prioritised set of improvement opportunities, and develop, maintain and review working capital key performance indicators (KPI’s) in line with the business requirements and undertake regular and varied communication and reporting across all levels of management
- Mentor and educate Maintenance, Inventory & Warehouse Team members in the intricacies and importance of effective Inventory Management that impact on working capital and create waste.
- Develop and maintaining positive working relationships and open communication channels with key Stakeholders
- Contribute to developing, implementing, and reviewing policy, process and standards of asset management and inventory management systems, and assist in the governance and compliance of the inventory, warehouse, and maintenance management procedures.
- Challenge existing methods, identify and implement improvement strategies in line with optimizing working capital and reducing waste in the business and ensure timely resolution of any working capital impacted issues and be responsible for people management processes, including performance appraisals, performance management and development and training for self and reporting teams and contribute, lead and influence others in a team environment.
To be successful for this role, you will have the following:
- Experience within related working capital optimisation programs, ideally within resources and other related industries
- Experience of program and project management, and related communication and reporting activities
- At least 5 years supervisory experience.
- A sound knowledge of all facets of Material Management, Warehousing and Logistics processes and procedures
- Experience in the SAP inventory management, Vendor/Contractor Management and Transport & remote location Logistics and experience in Inventory optimisation tools
- Physical mobility to visit sites as required
