About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs

We are looking for a Superintendent Supply Forecasting to join our Supply Forecasting and Scheduling team. You will be a hands-on leader, leading a small team to develop and provide crucial insights, along with recommendations, liaising with key stakeholders, and transforming information into a story, which is pivotal for the success of Rio Tinto’s supply chain and business performance.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Planning and working in an exciting and collaborative environment, you will:

  • Providing insights, analyse data, identify trends and improvement opportunities to evaluate and report on supply chain performance within the Quarterly Forecast (QF)
  • Engaging and networking with a wide range of stakeholders from across the business to understand local insights and context
  • Provide guidance and coaching to develop the capability of the Planners within the team
  • Collaborating with the broader RTIO and Rio Tinto teams to develop best practice
  • Gaining an understanding of our complex operating system
  • Identifying and understanding the system bottleneck and exploring improvement opportunities
  • Helping develop scenarios in each QF cycle, articulating the key messages and improving the process

What you’ll bring

  • Influential leadership and the ability to coach, develop, engage, and bring out the best in your team
  • A background in Mining, Ports, Rail and/or Processing and an understanding of the relevant value chain from mine to market will be see as advantageous, but is not essential

Where you’ll be working 

You will be Perth-based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Operations Centre. The team actively encourages and supports flexible work. This includes workdays, hours, and location, in addition to flexible and part-time work schedules. Occasional site travel will be required.
