Operations near and far
Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.
Who we’re looking for
Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, the primary purpose of this position is Ensure safe, sustainable, reliable and cost-effective maintenance of the Telfer ore processing plant and associated infrastructure in accordance with legal requirements, NML standards and company objectives.
Provide leadership and operational direction for asset management and maintenance for the ore processing plant starting from the surface primary crushers through to the discharge tailings booster bumps. This includes a direct responsibility for all employees, contractors and sub-contractors, assets, workshops, offices, facilities, work areas and activities under your control.
A few key responsibilities will include;
- The leadership and operational direction to the Surface Maintenance work teams
- Responsible for a team of 6 direct reports and up to 40 indirect reports
- Implement Maintenance and Asset Management Best Practice, both in your section but also across site through active collaboration with other teams
- Performance reporting and documentation
- Actively participate in site business planning, PoaP, Life of Mine Planning, Annual and Quarterly budgeting and the 12-week forecasting processes
- Regularly liaise with your manager and keep him/her updated on critical issues and progress on strategic objectives;
- Interact with the Site Leadership Team and General Manager as required and in line with the Newcrest Values. Act in higher duties as Maintenance Manager to ensure adequate coverage;
- Widely collaborate with and support other teams for the greater good of Telfer
- Actively engage and collaborate with central support functions and Peers on other NML sites
- Driving a high-quality safety performance and culture
You will be safety focused, team oriented, enable and drive continuous improvement and be willing to strive for results.
Ideally you will also have the following:
- A trade or engineering background, with a focus either in mechanical or electrical
- Previous operational maintenance experience in the mining industry
- Previous Superintendent and / or leadership experience
- Experience in a fixed plant environment
- SAP ERP Knowledge
This is a FIFO full time role from Perth on a 8days on 6days off roster.
