Superintendent Technical & Support

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership and direction to the multi-discipline Technical and Support team. Accountabilities include leading the development and coordination of business improvement pipeline, coordinating cross functional cost forecasting, driving the production engineering function (including development of capital applications), driving value-in-use of mine monitoring and control systems, statutory compliance management and leading reliability asset management across mobile equipment and fixed plant maintenance.

Location

This is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity based at the Worsley Boddington Bauxite Mine (BBM). BBM is in a fantastic region with several great country towns in the region to choose from to call home. Enjoy fresh country air, the open space of Boddington Shire, with great infrastructure, schooling, sporting clubs and a thriving community. The region is only 80 minutes South of Perth and only 60 minutes from the coast. Housing support available for the right candidate.

Accountabilities   

Safety and Risk

• Ensure Technical and Support (T&S) personnel are fully competent to work effectively and safely
• Co-manage material safety risk management across site
• Working knowledge of statutory compliance requirements
• Support business wide frontline safety culture improvement programs

 Leadership

• Set clear performance expectations for individuals and team to deliver on committed deadlines
• Lead an improvement culture by encouraging teams to identify improvements, broadly collaborate and implement site wide improvement projects through to completion
• Develop and mentor individual team members and promote a culture of continuous improvement backed by data and insights
• Identify, coach, mentor and inclusively develop future technical leaders
   

Technical

• Identify and develop continuous improvement business cases
• Manage cost forecast and annual budgeting process for Mine Operations budget
• Drive and encourage industry leading reliability based assessment management across mobile equipment maintenance and fixed plant maintenance
• Co-develop and implement sustainable mine monitoring and control practices inline with the fleet management system upgrade

About You   

Experience/Technical Skills  

• Exceptional safety leadership with an ability to engage in risk management
• Ability to develop, coach and mentor employees to improve engagement, inclusive, diversity and capability
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and the ability to form effective working relationships
• Demonstrated capability and experience (+8yrs) to successfully lead a team and positively collaborate & influence stakeholders (Required)
• Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in Engineering or other related discipline (e.g Geoscience) or extensive operational leadership experience (Required)
• Sound business acumen and financial planning knowledge (Required)
• Good working knowledge of mine monitoring and control (Desired)
• WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers ticket or ability to acquire (Highly regarded)
