We are looking for a Superintendent Town Assets to lead the delivery of accommodation, village, property and facilities services that support safe and efficient site operations.

This role will be residentially based at Gove, Northern Territory. FIFO arrangement from Cairns or Darwin may be considered for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Manager Town, you will play a key role in ensuring our accommodation and facilities assets are maintained to a high standard, while delivering an exceptional experience for employees, contractors and visitors. You will also with external stakeholders, overseeing the sublease transfer of privately held properties within Nhulunbuy engaging. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who enjoys working across operational and commercial environments, managing contractors and driving continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Manager Town and working within a collaborative and safety-focused team, you will:

• Lead the operation of village accommodation, housing and property assets to maximise utilisation and service delivery.
• Oversee facilities maintenance activities, ensuring assets are maintained to the required standards.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure timely execution of planned and reactive work.
• Manage the sublease transfer process of privately held properties within Nhulunbuy.
• Lead contractor performance, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Monitor facilities-related costs, risks and performance to support business objectives.
• Drive compliance with health, safety, environmental and governance requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop a diverse team aligned with Rio Tinto's values of Care, Courage and Curiosity.

Required for success

• Commercial and budget management experience.
• Strong contractor and external stakeholder management capability.
• Experience managing maintenance programs and service delivery contracts.
• Proven leadership experience with a focus on developing high-performing teams.
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Helpful for success

• Experience within mining, resources, utilities, infrastructure or remote operations.
• Project management experience across facilities or infrastructure-related projects.
• Knowledge of property, accommodation or village management systems.

Where you'll be working

Our Gove Operations have been supplying the global aluminium industry with world-class bauxite for over 40 years. Located in Australia’s Northern Territory, the operation produces approximately 12 million tonnes of bauxite annually.

With a dedicated workforce of 460 people, our daily activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, shutdown planning and execution, export operations, cultural heritage management, and closure activities following the decision to close the site’s alumina refinery and associated Residue Disposal Area in 2017.

We anticipate that our bauxite mining operations on the Gove Peninsula will cease in 2029, with associated closure and rehabilitation activities continuing into the 2030’s. We are undertaking significant efforts to support the closure of the operation. We also recognize that our operations take place on Indigenous-owned land, and we are committed to working together to achieve a positive future for Nhulunbuy and the Gove Peninsula post-mining.
