About the Role
The Superintendent Water Central role will be responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance activities associated with drinking, waste and surplus water production and distribution networks across for our Central Pilbara operations. The core focus of the roles will be to lead the water teams to safely maintain water quality and supply to ensure continuity of operations, compliance with regulatory requirements while managing health and environment risks.
In this position your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Maintaining safe working conditions and practices so as to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
- Reliable and cost-effective operation and maintenance of water infrastructure for the:
- Provision of drinking water in accordance with industry standards (ADWG) and legislative requirements.
- The management of wastewater infrastructure
- The management of surplus water schemes outside the mine gate
- Ensure appropriate governance and interface mechanisms are in place for internal and external stakeholders.
- Development of operations and maintenance personnel to drive continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the development and execution of annual plans including supply/demand forecasting and cost budgets.
- Ensure conformance with BHP risk management process including the execution and verification of critical controls.
- Engage and support projects teams to provide input as the owner operator for the business to ensure the successful delivery of capital projects.
- Develop, implement, measure, monitor and improve appropriate performance benchmarks for area of responsibility. To learn more about BHP click here
About You
The capabilities we are looking for in this position include:
- Highly desirable - degree qualification in Engineering, Science, Hydrology or similar
- Alternately a trade background with supervisory and technical water experience will be considered.
- Significant industry experience with demonstrated leadership in an operational environment.
- Sound understanding of risk management, regulatory environment and requirements.
- Exposure to the requirements for the supply drinking water and operate drinking water networks.
- Knowledge of assets management
- Experience in leading diverse disciplinary work teams.
Location:
This role will be a fly-in fly-out role from Perth based at the Mulla Mulla village though requiring travel to other areas including Yandi, Redmont and Port Hedland areas. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
