Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Residential employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
As the Superintendent for Work Health and Safety, you will be responsible for responsible for assisting the CITP HSEC Manager and Owners’ Team representatives in the development and implementation of an effective Health, Safety and Environment framework for the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project (CITP).
In your vital role within the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project Team, you will be instrumental in fostering a robust safety culture within the committed Newcrest and contracted workforce. Additionally, you will offer leadership and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, contracted business partners, and consultants, ensuring the safe and professional delivery of the project.
This long-term contract position will be offered as a 12/9 roster, with FIFO / DIDO arrangements available.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Demonstrate commitment and proactive leadership in the establishment and maintenance of safe working practices and environments via the enactment of Visible Felt Leadership interactions, System Verifications and Field Critical Control Checks.
- Maintain, administer, and report on the performance of the Training Management System to ensure that all Cadia Integrated Tailings Project team members and contractor staffs are adequately trained and comply with requirements as prescribed by Newcrest Standards, and applicable New South Wales Regulatory obligations.
- Proactively investigate, analyse and report on Significant Potential Incidents, investigation report quality and related performance trends to mitigate likelihood of repeat incidents and to promote lessons learnt.
- Ensure all contracted business partners implement effective operational HSEC plans and facilitate the resolution of any weaknesses identified throughout the project.
- Develop, monitor, and report project wide KPI’s to mitigate risk, promote measurable accountability, and reward performance.
- Lead the establishment and practical verification of site emergency response arrangements and capability.
- Develop and implement a health & hygiene monitoring processes to minimise occupational hygiene exposures, and incidence of occupational illnesses.
- Manage and report on the project specific HS&E risk profile and performance and the management of risk mitigation strategies applied across the project.
- Providing generalist H&S advice to the HSEC Manager, Project Managers, Workplace Health & Safety Advisors, and contract partners
You will also possess the following:
- Minimum Diploma-level qualification in safety management, engineering, environment, or a comparable technical field
- A minimum of 6-10 years’ experience in a Health, Safety or Environmental role, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience on a mine site or equivalent operational or project role location
- Experience fulfilling an equivalent Manager or Superintendent-level role in a construction or related heavy industry environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and produce results in a dynamic workplace setting.
- Strong consultative and influencing skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
