About the role

We are seeking an engaging, safety focused Supervisor to lead a team of Electrical and Mechanical personnel at the Cape Lambert port.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Supervisor with a strong background in maintenance to gain experience in the rail industry. Working 3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 off roster and reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, you will be:

  • Managing and supervising a maintenance team, including team leadership, performance management, safety performance, workflow management and task execution
  • Ensuring quick, accurate fault finding and diagnosis on Locomotives and Rollingstock
  • Managing quick response to disabled Rollingstock and Locomotives and managing repairs within the rail yard
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives that improve the quality of work completed in the most cost-effective manner
  • Building and maintaining collaborative stakeholder relationships and interfacing with other maintenance, engineering, and operations teams
  • Preparing reports and recommendations, and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Driving and promoting a strong safety culture and zero harm approach through safety leadership
  • Using SAP and Rio Tinto workflow management principles to execute planned maintenance activities

What you will need for this role

Along with demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role within a maintenance environment, you will also have proven ability in leading a safe, cost effective and high achieving team to meet operational requirements.

You will also possess the below :

  • Manual C Class Drivers Licence
  • Previous experience in performance management, incident investigations and safety leadership
  • Previous electrical experience will be looked upon favourably
  • Previous instrumentation experience (seen as advantageous but not essential)
  • Exposure to a maintenance management system, such as SAP (seen as advantageous but not essential)

Where you’ll be working

This role is based at our Cape Lambert operation in the heart of Wickham, a remote town nestled in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This role is offered on a residential 3 days, 3 nights and 6 off lifestyle roster.

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 17 mines, four independent port terminals, a 2,000-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand. 

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
