About the role
We are looking for an Asset Health Supervisor to join our team that provide 24/7 coverage to monitor the operating health for Rio Tinto’s Bauxite Mine operations.
Our Asset Health Team are an important part of our Integrated Aluminium Supply Chain in the Integrated Operating Centre based in Brisbane. As the Asset Health team are newly established and the condition monitoring processes gaining maturity, we are seeking an individual who can lead from the front in both team leadership and progressing the maturity of the Asset Health function
Using real time data from site assets to predict the likelihood of failures by monitoring early indicators of component failure and changes in performance. Conditional-based alerts unlock the potential to significantly reduce costs of repair and increase equipment reliability, driving improved production uptime.

This is an exciting transformation within our aluminium business and holds a critical position in remaining competitive and sustainable.
Working Monday to Friday with the exception of any shift coverage where required, and reporting to the Superintendent Integrated Operating Centre, you will be:
- Leading the focus on sustaining and improving a strong safety culture;
- Coaching and developing your team technically in asset health
- Attending daily/weekly meetings and providing input regarding the health and maintenance of the assets as well as asset performance reliability;
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the team in the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advances;
Working within and contributing to the broader Integrated Operations Asset Management Strategy, building the roadmap to drive the next improvements in the journey for asset health for HME.
What you will bring
- A strong commitment to safety and zero harm culture;
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role;
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with a wide cross-section of teams;
- Technical knowledge of mobile mining equipment or equivalent experience;
- A level of diagnostic and troubleshooting skills;
- Mechanical or electrical engineering degree desirable;
- Experience in process and procedure build;
- Data analysis skills;
- The ability to be flexible within the role and adapt to a changing environment.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Technical knowledge of Caterpillar mobile equipment;
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP, including searching the IH01 equipment register and raising notifications;
- Experience to assist in preparing case study data of failure events for future analysis;
- Understanding of root cause RCA and failure analysis principles;
- Post trade experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment;
- Data analysis;
- Demonstrated ability in continuous improvement methodologies.
