About the Role

Residential Blackwater or DIDO

This opportunity is located at our Blackwater Mine, which is owned and operated by BMA and is one of the world's largest open cut coal operations. Blackwater Mine currently has an opportunity for a Coal Mining Supervisor as part of the Production Coal Department.  

The Supervisor, reporting to the Superintendent Production Coal will be responsible for the management and oversight of a large production crew in conjunction with another Crew Supervisor.  This includes ensuring the safe execution of the mine plan in accordance with operating standards, procedures, and defined processes to deliver optimal production outcomes.

In this role your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Focus on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing, and coaching your team.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive team with a collaborative culture.
  • Manage a team of experienced operators, encourage the development of the teams’ skills to support the delivery of superior production outcomes.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach to identify and improve upon our operating philosophy and processes, ensure quality and efficiency in our operations.
  • Lead by example, promote and take the lead supporting and encouraging a diverse team of operators to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment ensuring a safety-first approach.

About You

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead positive change and support the continued development of a high performing team. The successful candidate will have an absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards, mine working procedures and ensure a safe and environmentally healthy workplace.  The ideal candidate will have problem solving abilities and a solution-based attitude.

In addition, the ideal candidate will meet the following:

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, ability to foster positive working relationships and be adaptable to various communication styles.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach, lead and facilitate cooperation with production personnel.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise and coordinate a variety of tasks within a dynamic environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, SAP and similar systems and databased.
  • Experience working in Leadership roles, with strong people management skills is desirable.
  • Experience working in the Coal industry, specifically Coal production is desirable but not essential.
  • S1,2,3 Supervisor and G2 Qualifications are essential.
