About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needsWe are looking for Supervisor Cranes and Transport to join our Shutdowns team. You’ll lead, mentor, coach and develop our contractors & RTIO employees on site, while providing leadership in safe crane operation activities at site level.
You’ll be part of a friendly team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on a fly in, fly out, 8 days on; 6 days off roster, with some nightshift as required, which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you.
Reporting to the Superintendent Cranes and Transport you will:
- Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures
- Appointment as Statutory Supervisor under WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 with the functions as per Schedule 26
- Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties
- Lead, coach and develop Contractors and FTE personnel
- Support designated leaders on contractor mobilisation procedures
- Organise and manage the deployment and operation of Cranes to support planned shutdown work across the entire PMO’s
- Manage Shutdown activities inclusive of crane & transport tasks to maximise productivity while minimising cost and environmental impact
- Ensure HSE, CRM, field time, variation control and cost management requirements are met
What you’ll bring
- Leadership experience and confidence in leading, developing and coaching team members
- Solid working knowledge of contractor management framework, systems, policies, standards and practices
- Computer literacy, Outlook, Excel, Word and SAP maintenance system
- An understanding of the work management process and principles
- Experience working in fixed plant operations, maintenance or similar
- Statutory Position Legal Exam – Statutory Supervisor (or working towards)
- Hold a current "C Class" WA Manual Driver’s License

Where you’ll be working
Operations is located on the lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura and Muntulgura Guruma Peoples in the eastern Pilbara, approximately 60 kilometres from Tom Price. Originally part of Greater Brockman, operations began in 2010 for the Brockman 4 deposit.
We are extending the life of our Brockman hub by developing the Brockman Syncline 1 mine project. Brockman Syncline will have the capacity to process up to 34 million tonnes per annum of iron ore, leveraging our existing plants. Construction has started, with first ore expected in 2027.
There are 3 villages that are part of the operations, Brockman 4, West Pilbara and Nammuldi Village. With a fly-in fly-out workforce of around 850, our team commutes from Perth, Geraldton, Albany and Busselton.
While the Greater Brockman Area will be the home base for this role, our department services the entire Pilbara region, regular travel and work across other sites will occur during peak shutdown periods or to support breakdowns.
