We are looking for a Supervisor Development to lead and develop a team of operators and managing the development operations to achieve safety, production and quality targets.

This role is a great opportunity for an individual with strong leadership and well-developed communication skills to work within a dynamic open pit mining environment. Working 2 weeks on, 1 week off FIFO roster from Perth or Geraldton and reporting to the Superintendent Development, you will have:

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Supervisor Development to support the development at Marandoo, to safely produce iron ore of the required quantity and quality including:

  • Embedding zero harm culture
  • Drill Pattern preparations and pit development
  • Haul road construction and haul road maintenance activities including sheeting
  • Managing auxiliary fleet, graders, dozers, water carts
  • Trench managing for below water table bench maintenance
  • Mentoring and developing high potential crew members towards leadership roles

This role is a great opportunity to manage a team of operators who demonstrate a flexible approach to work. Working and reporting to the Superintendent of Development as part of the Mining Team you will be:

  • Meeting the requirements of the Weekly development tracker
  • Responsible for the safety of the team and ensure his/her direct reports are conversant and comply with all critical standards and participate in the use of safety tools such as Take 5.
  • Well informed, trained and very knowledgeable of mining standards practices and procedures in Western Australia.
  • Ensuring direct reports have clear accountabilities and expectations which are factually measured and reported on informally and formally with employees when required.
  • Leading safety investigations without delegating and managing teams for all aspects of HR.

What you’ll bring 

  • Current Western Australian Manual drivers licence
  • Experience in drilling and pit development.
  • Exposure to safety systems within a large mining company.
  • Experience with developing and implementing safe procedures with previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and involvement within a variety of mining situations including drill, blast, dewatering and material movement
  • Restricted Quarry Manager certificate is desirable
  • Qualifications in Front-line Management, Open Pit Mining or Leadership
  • Contractor Management Experience and qualifications

Where you’ll be working

The Marandoo mine is located at the foot of Mount Bruce adjacent to the Karijini National Park, 50 km east of the town of Tom Price. Marandoo is known for its picturesque hills and mountain ranges. Our operation currently employs a fly in fly out workforce.
