About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Drill & Blast to provide leadership to the Drill and Blast team and to actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices with the aim of driving consistent performance and innovation in relation to safety, cost, and production.

You will be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes, whilst providing leadership, development, and support to your team, with the aim of driving consistent performance and innovation in relation to safety, cost, and production. Working 8 days, 6 off, 7 days, 7 off roster and reporting to the Superintendent Drill and Blast, you will:

• Ensure all Drill and Blast activities undertaken are in compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and RTIO standards and policies
• Contribute to the HSE system and increase awareness to enable an injury free and environmentally responsible workplace
• Performance management of the team including training, career development and discipline
• Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects which including cost saving and production efficiency projects
• Daily inspections of all work areas and regular on the job interactions with the team to develop a safe and efficient work culture
• Using the fortnightly mine plans to supervise and coordinate all Drill and Blast activities on site

What you’ll bring

• Proactive approach with a strong commitment in driving a safe working culture
• Current Supervisory experience with surface Blasting operations and Drill Supervision (Autonomous Drilling preferred)
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple work targets
• Computer literacy and proficiency in the suite of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word
• A current valid driver's license
• Current valid Dangerous Goods Security Card
• Proven ability to ‘think outside the box’ and demonstrate the Yandi ethos of pioneering innovation
• Exemplary performance history with RTIO

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• WA shot firer's licence with previous shot firing experience in a large iron ore mine
• Certificate IV trainer/assessor and exposure to training of others
• WA Quarry Manager's ticket

Located 95km north-west of Newman, Yandicoogina offers a range of fly in fly out rosters. As one of Australia's largest-producing iron ore mines; operating a fleet of autonomous trucks and drills, it generates more than 55 million tonnes of Hammersley Iron Yandi (HIY) fines each year.
