Drill and Blast Supervisor

Work location: Solomon 

  • Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 7D7N7R - FIFO Ex Perth

Fortescue are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Drill and Blast Supervisor to join our Solomon team. Reporting to the Drill and Blast Coordinator, this position will be responsible for overseeing the day to day drill and blast activities and personnel, in order to ensure mine safety and production targets are achieved in an efficient manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing drilling and blasting and associated activities in accordance with the plan
  • Managing all safety aspects of drill and blast operations and ensuring a safe work placed is maintained using business process and tools
  • Managing shift resources and manning levels, to ensure sufficient quantity and quality of drilled and blasted stock is safely achieved
  • Ensuring drill & blast patterns are kept to a high standard and all associated equipment is maintained in a safe condition
  • Providing ongoing training, coaching and mentoring to direct reports
  • Driving drilling & blasting techniques and procedures that promotes zero harm and improves performance and cost efficiencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current WA Shotfirer/Drillers ticket 
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence (non-restricted)
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience 
  • Safety focused with exposure to incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Understanding of fleet management systems 
  • Knowledge of the Mine Regulations Act
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships at all levels
