About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Drill and Blast to provide frontline leadership to our Drill and Blast operations in Pannawonica, and have opportunities on a full time capacity or job share arrangement.

It is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to step into a leadership position within a supportive and inclusive environment and is looking for greater flexibility while safely executing Drill and Blast activities at a site level, ensuring team performance is in line with short to medium term objectives.

You’ll work on either a 5 days on, 3 nights on, 6 days off roster or Job Share opportunity 5 days on, 3 nights on, 20 days off roster with applications open to those seeking fly in fly out or those living residential.

Reporting to the Superintendent Drill and Blast, you will be working in an inclusive and supportive team, within mine operations, you will be:

  • Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising a range of Rio Tinto best practices
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of drill and blast personnel
  • Manage drilling and blasting operations to maximize productivity while minimizing cost and environmental impact
  • Execute short- and medium-term plans and schedules to meet business strategy
  • Ensure compliance to relative legislation, including statutory obligations, blast management plan and qualified officer accountabilities

About you

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Leadership experience and confidence in leading, developing and coaching team members
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with work management systems and processes (SAP, Excel, Outlook)
  • A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence (Manual)
  • Statutory Position Legal Exam – Statutory Supervisor

Where you’ll be working

Robe Valley Operations, located on Robe River Kuruma Country, is close to the community of Pannawonica in the scenic Pilbara region, approximately 200km south-west of Karratha.

The operation comprises two key sites: Mesa A, which is primarily fly-in-fly-out, and Mesa J, which is strongly supported by a residential workforce living in Pannawonica.
