Supervisor Drill & Blast
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D6R:7N7R FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Supervisors Drill & Blast to join our Iron Bridge team. Reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent, this position will be responsible for overseeing the day to day drill and blast activities and personnel, in order to ensure mine safety and production targets are achieved in an efficient manner.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Overseeing drilling and associated activities in accordance with the plan, as directed by the Drill & Blast Superintendent
- Managing all safety aspects of drill and blast operations and ensuring a safe work placed is maintained using business process and tools
- Managing shift resources and manning levels, to ensure sufficient quantity and quality of drilled and blasted stock is safely achieved
- Ensuring drill & blast patterns are kept to a high standard and all associated equipment is maintained in a safe condition
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality outputs are achieved at all times
- Providing ongoing training, coaching and mentoring to direct reports
- Driving Drilling & Blasting techniques and procedures that promotes zero harm and improves performance and cost efficiencies
- Daily supervision of Automated Drilling Fleet
Qualifications and skills required:
- Previous Driller and/ or WA Shot firing experience.
- Minimum C Class Manual Driver's Licence and relevant tickets
- Previous Supervisory experience and the ability to read and understand mine plans.
- Knowledge of the WHS Act and WHS (Mines) Regulations, along with a strong commitment to safety
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships at all levels
- Understanding of/ exposure to fleet management systems
- Previous experience with incident investigation and/ or risk assessment processes will be highly regarded
