Our Telfer operation in Australia is now recruiting for the position of Supervisor- Electrical.

Telfer Operations

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognises the importance of work-life balance.  We provide comfortable, well-furnished rooms with Foxtel, along with site offers of quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports, and recreation activities.  Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer. 

The Role

Reporting to the Surface Maintenance Superintendent, this role will lead a maintenance team consisting of Electrical, Instrumentation and HVAC technicians to complete maintenance to ensure plant safety and reliability. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join the team on a permanent basis working 8/6- 7/7 dayshift-nightshift.

You will assist in leading the Surface maintenance function which includes maintaining all electrical equipment and assets from the crushing circuit and ore processing plant.  Fundamental to the success of this role will be your ability to sustain a positive and proactive safety culture in line with Asset Management best practice and compliant with regulations and Newmont’s policies, procedures, and standards.

Other key deliverables of the role include:

  • Be responsible for all employees, contractors and sub-contractors, assets, workshops, offices, facilities, work areas within Surface Maintenance.
  • Recruitment, training, development, coaching and performance management of the Surface Maintenance Team.
  • Actively monitor report and review performance and address any deviances from target.
  • Ensuring all incidents are captured in CHESS and manage the investigation process through to close out.
  • Be a safety leader constantly drive a positive change in safety culture. Ensure compliance with all industry and company safety requirements.  
  • Utilising the system SAP in line with the established Maintenance Business Process.
  • Be available for Surface Maintenance Shutdowns and provide support where required.
  • Collaborate both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork and engagement of your team and its key stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you will be a motivated leader with excellent work-ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. You will also possess the following:

  • Supervisor Experience in Mining or Heavy Industry
  • Current WA “A” Grade Electrical Licence
  • Eligibility to be appointed as an In-house Electrical Nominee
  • HV Switching Qualification
  • Electrical Instrumentation Qualification
  • Proficiency in entering and managing data- SAP experience highly regarded
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge to work safely and follow procedures.
  • Able to work in a Team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • C Class Drivers Licence
