About West Musgrave

The West Musgrave project is located in the Musgrave Province of Western Australia and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit. It is set to be one of the world's largest, lowest cost, and lowest emissions copper-nickel mines. The Ngaanyatjarra Peoples are the traditional owners of the land.  Site Services encompasses 4 main infrastructure work centers.

  • Water Services, (Potable, Fire, Raw, Treated, Dust Suppression)
  • Mechanical, Refrigeration and Hydrocarbons (Pumps, Light Vehicles, Servicing, Air Conditioning, Compressed Air, Diesel, Oily Wastewater)
  • Warehousing (General, Distribution, Pack, Unloading) and
  • Electrical Infrastructure supporting the other Site Infrastructure work centers as well as plant lighting, power generation, site buildings and statutory activities

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Village and Site Services, you will lead maintenance execution tasks on our critical assets and site facilities, serving the West Musgrave workforce. In this hands-on role, you will be part of a supportive team and work in a fast-paced environment where a day is like no other.

This is a fixed term opportunity till September 2025.

In this role you will

  • Provide effective, directive leadership to a diverse trade team by sharing our vision and team's purpose.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and standards, reducing risk and exposure. 
  • Ensure a healthy maintenance lifecycle by optimizing planned maintenance and minimizing the impact of unplanned maintenance with a particular focus on the Execution phase.
  • Manage aspects of the maintenance budget, specifically asset cost control and awareness. 
  • Maintain strong relationships and collaborate with the West Musgrave Leadership Team to support the successful delivery of the maintenance execution phase. 
  • Actively collaborate in shutdown preparation and post shutdown lessons learnt sessions. 
  • Ensure contractors working on site are compliant with site safety and equipment policies. 
  • Create, review and audit standard maintenance procedures in conjunction with asset management team. 
  • Drive business improvement for systems and processes to maximize equipment reliability. 
  • Support in providing training systems for the trade group and associated service providers and contractors. 
  • Manage team competencies to ensure all critical and statutory training is current and up to date. 
  • Act as a subject matter technical expert to other groups to comply with electrical standards and legislation. 
  • Support the Cultural Heritage and Archaeological field surveys as required. 

About You

To succeed in this role you will need

  • Extensive experience at a supervisory level leading and executing similar projects within a heavy industrial, mining resources or minerals processing environment. 
  • Electrical Trade Certification (familiarization with AS3000) and Electrical License WA.
  • Ability to qualify for In-house Electrical Nominee as an Appointed Persons in line with the WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022
  • Demonstrated construction and commissioning experience in complex projects. On-site Plumbing, Refrigeration/Aircon Gas Trade highly desirable. 
  • Experience maintaining temporary power systems, reverse osmosis plants, wastewater treatment plants and bore field systems. 
  • Quickly identify threats or opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate or capitalize on these. 
  • Develop trustworthy relationships with the team members and contractors and install a genuine We Care approach with focus on safety. 
  • A hands-on leader who focuses on the team's development and performance.
  • Highly proficient using various platforms and systems including Microsoft suite.
