ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is offered on a 12months fixed term contract, working 42 hour week, DIDO to our Boddington Bauxite Mine, which is located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).

As the Supervisor Emergency Services, you will be responsible for providing Schedule 26 supervision to the site Emergency Services Officers and Emergency Response Team members. Ensuring emergency response preparedness to South32 – Worsley Alumina’s Principal Mining Hazards. 

To lead emergency management proactively and reactively with planning, preparedness, response and recovery to emergency incidents and events.

Coordinate the Plan and assist in the execution of Emergency Response Training.

in order to meet the intent and obligations in the WHS Act and Regulations, Code of Practice for Emergency Management for Western Australian Mines and site and South32 Standards. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide supervision to the Emergency Services Officers (ESO’s) and volunteer Emergency Response Team (ERT) personnel.
  • Take responsibility for contractor management activities with regards to Emergency Services and Security related matters.
  • Manage afterhours “on-call” responsibilities during rostered-on periods.
  • Response to and support of ESO’s at incidents, as well as assume control of significant emergencies as incident controller, where appropriate.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring, as well as maintenance and developmental training of ESO’s.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:  

  • Strong knowledge of key concepts, risk recognition and contemporary practices related to emergency response and planning.
  • Emergency Response Professional that has practiced in Emergency Services Leadership with a minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience in mining or heavy industry.
  • Manage and monitor the Emergency Services budget to ensure compliance forecast costs and expenses.
  • Provide advice, guidance and expertise to work groups and leadership with regards to Proactive management of Emergency, Security and Safety issues.
  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills to guide, support and connect with both internal and external business stakeholders.
  • HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing (or equivalent).

Qualifications for this position are:  

  • Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) or Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue.
  • Certificate IV in Emergency Response Coordination (highly regarded).
  • Certificate IV in Health Care.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
