About the role
We are looking for a Supervisor - Facilities who will lead a small team of maintenance professionals responsible for both preventative & reactive maintenance across a range of town and mine assets including residential housing, accommodation villages, commercial lease properties, site buildings and other non-process mine infrastructure.

About you
This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who can support the Facilities & Services team and work efficiently across a number of areas to ensure the facilities asset portfolio is maintained appropriately. Working a 9-day fortnight roster and reporting to the Superintendent – Facilities & Services, you will be:
- Leading and mentoring a team of 3 direct report contractor supervisors responsible for preventative & reactive maintenance across a range of town and mine assets;
- Present at contractor shift-start meetings to provide guidance and coaching in the use of the Rio Tinto safety systems;
- Implementing and driving leading for safety systems and improvements with both your team and key contracting partners;
- Coaching and mentoring contracting partners in RT health and safety systems including shift-starts, risk assessments and have a high level leadership field time;
- Accountable for the integration of the contractors into the RTA SHMS (Safety & Health Management System) within your area of responsibility.
- Working closely with the services contractors for facilities, grounds and vegetation maintenance to ensure contract compliance in Weipa township, Weipa Operations and at Amrun mine;
- Responsible for ensuring our contracting partners have PM plan in place for Rio Tinto accommodation facilities and their associated infrastructure;
- Responsible for scheduling work in SAP for other members of your team to execute;
- Managing multiple maintenance cost centres, including budget planning, with a keen focus on active cost management - contributing to the financial success of the Rio Tinto Weipa business.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team;
- Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential);
- A trade qualification, or significant experience in the industry with a building or construction background;
- The ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders at different levels;
- A keen eye for detail and a pro-active approach to cost management;
- An ability to work with a large degree of autonomy, while ensuring a consistent approach in alignment with a broader team goal;
- Good computer literacy, with a high level of both verbal and written communication skills;
- Previous experience with SAP will be highly beneficial.
