About the Role

We are looking for motivated Supervisors to support the delivery of our geoscience programs across our BHP Coal assets in Queensland. Reporting to the Superintendent Geoscience Operations, your role within the Geoscience Operations team will see you leading skilled teams in the safe and efficient delivery of field activities including , drilling, seismic, earthworks, borehole decommissioning and rehabilitation activities across our mine sites and exploration tenements. As a collaborative leader focused on achieving program outcomes, you will foster an environment where health, wellbeing and a high performing culture underpins our success. As a supervisor within the Geoscience group, an important part of the work we do is underpinned by; A key pillar to our sustainability and integral to how we contribute to social value creation, managing our risks, reducing our adverse environmental, social, economic and cultural impacts. Reduce our financial liability, maintain our social license to operate and improve our stakeholder relationships by meeting our environmental obligations of rehabilitating legacy disturbance from exploration activities. Provide opportunities for successful indigenous partnerships with potential scope increase via building capability. As the Supervisor Geoscience Operations you will:

About You

You will have a collaborative approach, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups influencing positive outcomes. Excellent communication skills include a deep understanding of stakeholder needs and an ability to support leadership teams by providing context and insight to facilitate decision-making considering strategic direction. Additional desirable skills include:  

  • Previous experience as a Technician, Supervisor, Geologist, Operational or Engineering roles.
  • Relevent experience working with Indigenous contracting partners, landowners and traditional owner/first nations and other community groups advantageous.
  • Relevant project management and managing contractors experience.
  • Exploration or mining experience with exposure to RC, diamond and hydro drilling (Conventional and Dual Rotary), geophysics, earthworks and field works advantageous.
  • Experience with working in remote area work locations distant from mine sites.
  • Qualifications to enable Supervisor Appointment at BMA sites ie (S1, S2, S3, G2) is preferable.
  • Current First Aid and CPR is desirable.

  Location This is a 12 months Fixed term role based at Blackwater. This role requires a presence across our BHP Coal assets in Queensland, based in the Bowen Basin region on an 8:6 roster, we’re keen to discuss flexible work arrangements that may best suit you (including options for alternative home location, rosters and/or job share arrangements).
