About the Role
As a Supervisor at BHP, we will provide you an environment where health and wellbeing are seen as a pre-requisite for safety and productivity. You will be empowered by your Superintendent and encouraged to ensure your team are connected to their strategy and plan.
As our Housing and Village Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance across Dysart and Blackwater in accordance with BHP policies and procedures. Reporting to the Superintendent Housing Maintenance, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) your duties will include:
- Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
- Authorise, prioritise, plan, and monitor workflow and work orders via 1SAP.
- Comply with all BMA HSEC guidelines, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Meet the Supervisor level requirements of the Operating Discipline Standard STD-IOH-SAF-009.
- As an Appointed Responsible Person, you are required to ensure compliance
- Set and clearly communicate targets and expectations aligned with NPI goals and BHP values.
- Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team.
- Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation.
- Positively influence and shape the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to work.
- Work in accordance with the 1SAP work management processes, to ensure statutory reporting and monitoring is completed as per the pre-defined plan.
Location
You will be based at the Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) office located at the Dysart Depot; Central Queensland however weekly travel will be required to our Blackwater Mine Site. This position is offered on a 7:7 roster and will offer flexible travel arrangements to the right candidate.

About You
In the NPI team, you will be working alongside a committed and outcomes-focused team that are dedicated to the challenges they face. The team is passionate about achieving the intention of our company charter in every job and challenges are seen as opportunities for improvement.
As our successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Have a genuine commitment to safety and proven safety leadership skills in the field is a given.
- Previous experience in leading a maintenance team in a frontline supervisory capacity.
- Previous experience leading a high performing team is critical.
- Previous experience working in House and/or Village maintenance environment is beneficial.
- Mechanical Trade or relevant Tertiary Mechanical qualification within an equivalent industry and/or organisational experience would be highly regarded.
- An understanding the work management process (1SAP)
- Maintenance planning and scheduling experience is desirable.
- Current C Class drivers’ licence is essential as travelling from Dysart to Blackwater is required.
- Comfortable and able to drive between Dysart and Blackwater as required for this role.
- Experienced and knowledgeable to ensure you and your team follow fatigue management safety guidelines whilst travelling in Central Queensland
- Continuous improvement and project management experience would be beneficial.
- Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills.
