About the Role
Based within the Flashbutt Yard in Port Hedland and reporting to the Superintendent Flashbutt & Logistics, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the promotion of safe working conditions and adhering to safety processes and procedures within the work group;
- Creating a culture of care through being a visible safety leader, as well as engaging, developing and coaching the team;
- The supervision of all transport and road maintenance-related activities (including heavy machinery transportation, maintenance grading, ballast management, signage, delineation and scrap steel removal) along the rail access corridor between Port Hedland and Newman, including travel between Hedland and Newman for field verification and support;
- Supervision of a team of Coordinators and multiple contractor work groups;
- Ensuring all planning processes are executed and adhered to, including liaising with Planning teams, approving new work notifications, and managing the primary work centres for the team;
- Liaising with other execution work groups to enable smooth running of day-to-day tasks and project work;
- Recruitment and liaising with contracting and labour hire companies, facilitating team safety meetings and contractor management meetings, including risk assessing new work groups and onboarding new-starters;
- Reviewing risk assessments and authorising works;
- Performance management of employees and contractors;
- Contribution to, and facilitation of, site leadership team meetings
This role is a roster position of 8 days on, 6 days off, comprising of 12 hour day shifts only. This position would suit those that enjoy being busy and working in a team environment.
About You
- Strong adherence to safety processes, with the ability to hold yourself and others to account;
- Previous experience in transportation, earthworks and / or road maintenance (highly desirable);
- Experience in auditing procedures and safety-related documentation;
- Strong IT literacy;
- Supervisory and performance management experience, including the ability to supervise multiple work groups;
- Strong organisational, planning communication and interpersonal skills;
- Experience in using 1SAP and carrying out work management tasks;
- Flexible, with the ability to travel and stay down track during shift (if required)
