To lead a Maintenance crew within an operation area or in a specialized discipline over the entire operation and ensure maintenance activities are safely executed against schedules, plans, and specified standards.

Location 

Accountabilities   

Primary responsibilities are to:  

 Safety

• Adherence to the statutory obligations and responsibilities involved with being a Section44 appointed supervisor
• Ensure operations activities are conducted safely by competent operations personnel in accordance with the relevant standards and operating procedures.
• Ensure that critical controls are implemented and effective. Verification activities are conducted as per requirement.

Technical

• Lead a maintenance execution team and promote operating discipline related to the SAP work management processes
• Review the plan for the next day and commit to the next day’s work, rescheduling what will not be achieved
• Ensure timely updates of resource work centre capacity data to enable effective scheduling.
• Ensure timely evaluation and scoping of work requests prior to approval for the work management planning process.
• Plan the day’s work for the team and ensures that the team is competent to execute the work and guarantees their safety
• Conduct regular compliance checks to ensure adherence to 1SAP processes and work instructions, and the entering of the relevant transactional data in 1SAP.
• Manage and review events and ensure that escalation protocols are complied with.

Leadership

• Provide day-to-day leadership, expertise and direction to a Maintenance Execution team within an operation area as per South32’s Leadership Accountability Model.
• Assign work to team members and gives direction by setting performance, quality and time expectations
• Lead an improvement culture by encouraging teams to identify improvements and support the delivery of these

About You   

• Currently holds or can be appointed a Section 44 General Appointment
• Holds a recognised trade qualification or possess’ significant supervisory experience in a maintenance environment
• Intermediate proficiency in computer applications such as SAP, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to follow safety and operating procedures, handle unit emergencies and communicate appropriately
• Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
• Ability to multi-task, problem solve and manage competing priorities
• Significant experience at supervisory level with a demonstrated capability to successfully lead a team, influence others and performance manage a team
