About the role

There are a number of opportunities for Maintenance Support Supervisors across Rio Tinto’s Pilbara Mine Operations. These individuals will provide leadership and guidance to their team and actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices, with the aim of driving consistent performance, and innovation in relation to safety, cost, and production.

Reporting to the Superintendent MEM, your key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Being an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices, and processes
  • Providing safety and technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to your team
  • Completing daily inspections of all work areas and regular on the job interactions with the team to develop a safe and efficient work culture
  • Allocating and coordinating planned maintenance activities using the Rio Tinto workflow management principles
  • Driving continuous improvement projects which include cost saving and production efficiency projects

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Leadership experience and a proven track record of success with leading, developing, and coaching team members
  • Previous experience in a mining-related role (i.e. Fixed Plant, Mobile Equipment Maintenance, or Mining Production) will be seen as advantageous but not essential
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in the suite of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • A current Australian manual (C Class) driver’s license

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Rio Tinto operates the world’s largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets, which include 17 mines, four independent port terminals, a 2,000-kilometre rail network, and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand.
