Operations near and far

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we’re looking for  

Reporting into the Utilities – Superintendent we are seeking an Mechanical Supervisor to oversee internal and external maintenance teams to ensure safe, sustainable, and reliable performance of utilities assets. Your leadership will help maintain compliance with regulations, policies, and best practices, driving both safety and efficiency.

Other Key responsibilities

  • Supervise employees, contractors, and sub-contractors, ensuring safety and compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and related regulations.
  • Monitor and review performance, address deviations from targets, and report on progress and critical issues.
  • Recruit, train, and develop the Utilities Mechanical Team, ensuring a motivated and high-performing group.
  • Foster a culture of safety, ensuring all incidents are captured and investigated. Ensure compliance with all statutory and company standards.
  • Manage budgets and optimize costs through the EDGE process. Ensure projects are executed within budget and schedule.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives and effective management of change.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to align objectives and ensure effective teamwork.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a deep understanding of mechanical systems, a commitment to safety and compliance, and a proven ability to manage budgets, teams, and projects effectively.

Other key requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a utilities, maintenance and mining environments.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • SAP experience
  • C Class Manual Licence
  • Full Working Rights in Australia
