About the Role

  • Permanent Supervisors opportunity at Nickel West Smelter - Kalgoorlie
  • Other benefits include generous allowances, the option to purchase additional annual leave, an attractive share save scheme, annual salary reviews and a short-term incentive bonus.
  • These roles are for candidates currently residing in the Kalgoorlie region and/or interested in relocating and offer a Family friendly 5/2 roster (Monday - Friday).

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. As a Supervisor at BHP, we will provide you an environment where health and wellbeing are seen as a pre-requisite for safety and productivity. In this key role you have the ability to positively influence BHPs direct business outcomes, being at the end of one of the most profitable & productive supply chains across Australia. Your ability to lead by example, be proactive and prioritise safety will be critical to your success.

In addition, you will play a key role by:

  • Maintaining a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environment and outcomes
  • Executing the maintenance plan in conjunction with Site Maintenance Execution, the planning team and other stakeholders
  • Promoting a high level of team interaction and coordination
  • Optimising the utilisation of resources throughout the schedule week
  • Identifying and providing input in the continuous improvement of our Maintenance processors

About You

It is likely our successful candidates will have:

  • A genuine commitment to safety and proven safety leadership skills in the field is a given
  • Have a Trade Qualification or Tertiary qualifications in a Mechanical discipline
  • Previous experience in leading a maintenance team in a frontline supervisory capacity
  • Strong problem solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions
  • Maintenance execution schedule management (planned to high capacity)
  • Previous experience leading a high performing team
  • An understanding the work management process (1SAP)
  • Previous maintenance experience within a Mining or heavy industry environment, Fixed Plant and/or Mobile Equipment
  • Continuous improvement and project management experience would be beneficial
  • Current C Class drivers licence
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills
  • Experience with BHP’s Operating System (BOS)  system would be advantageous.
