About the Role
Oak Dam is an iron oxide copper-gold-uranium (IOCGU) mineralised system located approximately 65 km south-east of Olympic Dam (OD). Discovered in 2018, we are now undertaking advanced exploration activities to gain resource knowledge and inform potential development pathways for the mineral deposit.
In line with the Oak Dam Operational goal to ‘safely deliver orebody knowledge’, the Supervisor Operations provides site leadership and supervision for all field activities undertaken by BHP personnel and contracting partners alike to ensure tasks are performed safely and sustainably in compliance with workplace procedures and aligned with BHP’s Code of Conduct. The role will actively coordinate with all stakeholders to achieve superior performance applying experience and initiative to meet and exceed annual and monthly KPI targets.
This role is based at Oak Dam on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster FIFO ex-Adelaide.
Reporting to the Superintendent Operation Oak Dam, your key accountabilities will include:
- Accountable for all frontline operational work delivery in the 0-30 day space, ensuring safe systems of work are in place and effective for all activities in Oak Dam project area
- Strong contractor management skills and a functional understanding of exploration contracts
- Shift to Shift delivery of operations activities, including exploration diamond & RC drilling, Earthworks and a range of field-based surveys including Geophysical, Heritage and Environment
- Leading quality Field Leadership observations, risk assessments, work management and quality event investigations
- Project scale procurement and consumable ordering
- Driving continuous improvement and supporting the BHP Operating System
About You
The successful candidate, will ideally possess the following:
- Previous experience in field-based supervisor role managing multidisciplinary field-based teams over a wide geographical coverage
- Exploration or mining experience preferably with exposure to deep directional diamond, reverse circulation, and hydro drilling (Conventional and Dual Rotary), all supporting exploration activities and remote camp management
- Ability to lead a team of frontline workers to deliver high quality, relevant outcomes
- Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
