Operations near and far

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a level-headed and proactive Ore Processing Supervisor to join the Ore Processing Department at Telfer and lead the Processing team to ensure all work is carried out in a safe, structured, agreed and timely manner optimising the safe production of gold

In addition to providing direct leadership, you will be rresponsible for all employees, contractors and sub-contractors in ensuring absolute compliance with legal requirements and company objectives and provide support to develop, coach and mentor team members to continuously improve their knowledge and skills and relationship interactions

Other key deliverables of the role include:

  • Supporting the Safety Management System, ensuring a safety-first work culture; applying site safety standards, procedures and policies
  • Participating in site safety initiatives and supporting the NewSafe behaviours in the team
  • Ensuring adequate pro-active monitoring to maintain a safe work environment
  • Supporting and investigating when work is stopped due to an unsafe act or condition, ensuring actions to mitigate the risk are implemented
  • Taking a proactive risk management approach to departmental tasks, i.e., recognise, analyse, respond to ensure risks are at an acceptable
  • Setting priorities and allocating work to competent personnel
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and setup work for execution
  • Ensuring work is completed to the required quality and specification

To succeed in this role, you will be a forward-looking leader with excellent work-ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation will work towards achievement of desired outcomes and engagement of your team and key stakeholders. In addition to your finely tuned problem-solving and decision-making abilities, you will also have:

  • Experience in a Gold Processing Plant is highly desired
  • Proven frontline leadership experience within large-scale complex operations
  • Experience with shutdown planning and coordination is desirable
  • High commitment to safety along with excellent decision making and delegation skills
  • Computer literacy and understanding of SAP will be beneficial
  • Current C Class drivers’ licence

Please note: This is a permanent role that will work on a FIFO (8D/6-7N/7), flying out of Perth.
