Operations near and far

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance.  Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.

Who we’re looking for:

Reporting into the Superintendent – Process Control, Technology & Power Generation, a permanent opportunity has arisen for a driven Supervisor – IT/OT Technology to lead and support a team of high performing Technology Officers whilst maintaining a close working relationship with Group’s enterprise IT & OT technical teams. You will also have the ability to provide technical guidance on the integration of new systems with existing site infrastructure and identify & execute minor improvement projects.

A few key responsibilities will include;

• Ensure the safe, reliable, and effective operation & maintenance of the underlying technology infrastructure utilised as a platform with the converged IT & OT Technology space.
• Conduct day to day maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of site technology infrastructure.
• Facilitate addition, removal, and changes to technology systems.
• Ensure statutory systems are maintained, audited, and treated according to the relevant legislation
• Identify project risks and mitigating options

You will be safety focused, team oriented, enable and drive continuous improvement and be willing to strive for results. Relationship building, drive and strategic thinking are second nature to you. Its essential that you have demonstrated leadership and people management of a team in a technical context.

You’ll have a tertiary qualification in an Information Technology or Engineering discipline. Ideally you will also have the following;

• Experience within a 24x7x365 manufacturing or heavy industry operation
• Industry certification across networking, system administration and disaster recover

A thorough understanding of:

• IP data communications systems
• Wireless network administration and deployment
• Windows, Linux, and embedded system administration
• SQL database administration
• Remote access and administration tools
• Best practice backup and disaster recovery in 24x7x365 environments.
• Equipment installation standards
• Microsoft Active Directory administration and design
• Production Systems such as:
  • • Digital Radios
    • Modular Mining Dispatch
    • CAS Collision Avoidance
    • CCTV

We are looking for a strong communicator and influencer and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on innovation and best practise.

Please note: This is a permanent role, FIFO from Perth Telfer on an 8 days on/6 off roster (Monday to Monday)
