The purpose of this role is to supervise the execution of maintenance activities according to the Schedule and maintain the physical assets, plant and equipment as defined by HSEC requirements, the Operation’s standards and operating procedures. This role will be offered on a Permanent basis.

Primary;

Safety

• Adherence to the statutory obligations and responsibilities involved with being a Section44 appointed supervisor
• Ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely by competent maintenance personnel in accordance with the relevant standards and operating procedures.
• Ensure that critical controls are implemented and effective. Verification activities are conducted as per requirement.

Technical

• Allocate planned tasks for the team and ensures that the team is competent to execute the work and guarantees their safety.
• Adhere to defined standard procedures and apply safe work practices.
• Review and update plans and equipment history and communicate status to appropriate parties.
• Assign work to team members and gives direction by setting performance, quality and time expectations
• Address and understand causes for break in work and escalate to Superintendent as required.
• Escalation/reporting of incidents and events involving safety, environmental and production. Ensure escalation protocols are complied with.
• Review the plan for the next shift and commit to the next shifts work, rescheduling what will not be achieved
• Ensure timely updates of labour availability to enable effective scheduling.

Leadership

• Manage all aspects of shift performance including safety, maintenance, personnel and budgets as per South 32’s Leadership Accountability Model
• Provide day-to-day leadership, expertise and direction to a Maintenance Execution team within fixed plant to ensure delivery against plans.
• Address and understand causes for break in work and escalate to Superintendent as required

About You  

• Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter / Boiler Maker
• Demonstrated technical competence gained from a mineral/oil/gas/manufacturing processing environment
• Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency.
• Currently Holds or can be appointed a General Section 44 Appointment
• Self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in plant maintenance
• Intermediate proficiency in computer applications such as SAP, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Significant experience at supervisory level with a demonstrated capability to successfully lead a team, influence others and performance manage a team.
