About the Role

In this role you will:
- Foster our positive culture within your team to maintain a focus on identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement through reduced costs through maximising recovery, minimising down time and eliminating waste;
- Have an overriding commitment to the sustainability of our inclusive and safety focused workplace culture;
- Build partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with customers and key stakeholders across the business;
- Support and encourage strong levels of engagement to drive our site safety and performance;
- Coach and mentor your team while supporting their development and personal achievements;
- Safely and proactively execute short term production plans to maximise equipment utilisation achieve quality targets;
- Work closely with Process Engineers, Coordinators, Coal Operations, and Maintenance to ensure optimised, efficient coal flow;
- Monitor and report against daily plan and escalate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Superintendent.
About You

As the ideal candidate you will:
- Demonstrate experience in your trade and/or processing operations, having had experience in leading and/or enabling teams
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills will support you in maintaining cross-departmental engagement and effective communication throughout multiple levels of the business from mining to port.
- Have a passion for inclusion and collaboration will help drive and support an already positive workplace environment.
- Be a strong people leader who can engage with people from various backgrounds and experience levels and enables their teams to challenge the norms, to unlock potential to grow.
- Show equal respect to people at all levels, and portray a positive leadership shadow at all times.
To liaise with a variety of stakeholders, it is important you are a confident verbal and written communicator. In addition, your strong problem solving skills, as well as a high level of motivation and drive will assure you are able support your team in identifying and delivering projects to optimise CHPP operation in terms of Safety, Volume, Cost and Culture.
On 18th October 2023, BHP announced that BHP and Mitsubishi Development have agreed to divest the Blackwater and Daunia mines to Whitehaven Coal. Whitehaven will assume operating control of the Daunia and Blackwater mines on completion of the sale, which is expected to occur in Q4 FY24. Whitehaven will provide an offer of employment to each employee directly supporting the Blackwater and Daunia mines.
