Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is diverse in people and rich with technical know-how, efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. We also have plans to expand our operations with new mines in the northern Goldfields and a large nickel sulphate plant in Kwinana.  A member of the BHP Minerals Australia, Nickel West is undergoing an exciting business transformation to become a globally significant supplier of battery materials to the electric vehicle market. We will soon become the world’s largest producer of Nickel Sulphate, a key ingredient in lithium-ion batteries and as the world’s largest producer of nickel briquettes and nickel powder, Nickel West is leading the new-energy revolution in Western Australia. 

The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte. 

Reporting directly to the Production Superintendent – Services, the Supervisor's primary responsibility will be to provide direction and coaching to shift personnel in order to safely achieve the agreed outcomes for the department and the site. This role is critical to the operation's success and so provides an excellent opportunity for continuous improvement of yourself, your team and the process. Find out more here.

About You

  • Able to demonstrate excellent safety focus and standards

  • Able to demonstrate excellent leadership development and skills

  • Ability to plan, monitor and troubleshoot to achieve safety and production targets

  • Be self-motivated, adaptive, resourceful and demonstrate strong problem solving skills

  • Relevant experience in Acid Plants, Powerhouse & Control Rooms will be highly regarded

  • Excellent organisational skills, able to implement change and manage and motivate others

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to liaise with different levels and departments.
