About the role

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Quality Measurement Supervisor to join the Quality Measurement team at Rio Tinto Dampier Ports. The role is a great opportunity to combine your technical knowledge of sampling processes, analytical laboratory operations and minerals processing testwork with your leadership capabilities. Working a continuous equal time roster and reporting to the Quality Measurement Superintendent you will be required to:

  • Provide leadership and support to a laboratory team that includes Quality Measurement and Metallurgical Operators
  • Oversee the reporting of accurate analysis results
  • Identifying, implementing and sustaining improvements to laboratory practice and processes and ensuring consistency across all teams in the lab
  • Ensure that plant sampling and laboratory analytical test methods are undertaken safely and to a high standard
  • Monitor compliance to quality standards and manage the execution of routine quality checks

What you will need for this role

  • People leadership experience
  • Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • A strong commitment to safety systems and procedures
  • Experience with fixed plant sampling systems
  • Experience with metallurgical testwork – desirable
  • A current C Class drivers licence

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • A certificate III or higher in Laboratory Operations or related discipline
  • Experience with forklift operations and associated risk management principles
  • Knowledge of fixed plant and laboratory operational systems such as: StarLims/CClass, Wonderware/Citect, IMS, TIKS and Chemalert
  • Ability to interpret metallurgical testwork flowsheets
  • An understanding of a range of metallurgical testwork methods
  • Degree qualification in metallurgy or related discipline
