About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Rail Control your duties will include: • Leading and developing a high performing Rail Control team, who under your leadership are integral in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of Rail Network Operations; • Ensure the performance of the Rail Control team is in accordance with Rail Safety National Law, Railroad Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct and Safe Work Practices;. • Allocate manning resources to effectively operate the Rail Control Centre; • Lead and develop a high performing control operations team who, under your leadership are responsible for; • Ensure compliance to safe operating practices aligned to Rail Safety National Law and our Rail Rule Book; • Support the delivery of the business plan through:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
- Manage team performance and continue to drive a positive improvement culture with a focus on safety, empowerment and efficiency;
- Communicate a clear and exciting vision for the future of Rail Operations including the context for change to build understanding and commitment;
- Develop and maintain the team’s technical capabilities and knowledge within the team.
About You
As the successful candidate you aspire to be and exhibit the following traits: • Are a great people leader who will assist us to be EPIC “Empower Performance and Improve Connection”; • Previous experience in leading and coaching a team to achieve results safely through positive engagement and continuous improvement; • Demonstrated Rail Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain knowledge or similar experience will be viewed favourably; • Experience developing and reviewing operational practices and methodologies; • Good communication, interpersonal and people management skills, ensuring that team members feel respected and engaged around issues affecting themselves and their workplace; • Ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to lead complex and sustainable change; • Exercise sound judgement with good analytical and problem solving skills; • You enjoy identifying opportunities for improvement and proactively solving them.
Lifestyle Roster
This position will work on our Lifestyle Roster, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing. Employees on this roster enjoy two full weekends off out of four and will align to the following shift rotation: 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X. Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package. As an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.
