The Role

 Accelerate your career with this leadership opportunity in the Mount Isa Copper Operations Team. The role will allow you to draw upon your extensive experience in drilling and underground mining to analyse, plan and enable the execution of the mine plan while maintaining cost performance and focusing on improvement. Reporting to the Senior – Raisebore & Drilling Operations, this residential role based in Mount Isa will require you to work on a 7/7 continuous shift roster. This staff position will see you lead and supervise a team of underground operations personnel.

You will be responsible for leadership and supervision of your team, and management of multiple tasks across all areas of the mine. As a safety leader in our business, you will be responsible for compliance with all relevant procedural and statutory regulations, as well as performance management and employee development for your team.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively plan, organise, and manage crew operations and liaise with other departments/stakeholders to ensure that compliance to the overall mine plan is achieved
  • Coach operators in operational efficiency and resolve day to day team challenges
  • Safely manage daily raisebore activities.
  • Strive to foster a safety culture within our business and actively promote and support the Glencore Values
  • Be responsible for compliance with all site standards, relevant procedural and statutory regulations, as well as performance management and employee development for your team
  • Ensuring improvements are captured and implemented into everyday procedures

The successful applicants will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in underground mining
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for underground mining
  • Experience supervising and developing large work teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Queensland Security Clearance Card and S123 competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of underground mining and competency in MS Office are essential
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams
  • Recognisable commitment to safety, quality, and best practice concepts
  • Raisebore or drilling experience.
