About the Role

Barminco is seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join our operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated underground mining professional to provide frontline leadership, supervision, and support to underground crews while ensuring safe, productive, and efficient mining operations.

Reporting to the Project Manager or Mine Foreman, you will be responsible for coordinating daily underground activities, leading your crew to achieve operational targets, and ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with safety standards, company procedures, and legislative requirements.

This position is offered on a FIFO roster from Perth to site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Leading and supervising underground mining crews to ensure safe and productive operations.
  • Supporting the Project Manager, Mine Foreman, and site leadership team in implementing Barminco's safety systems and initiatives.
  • Conducting daily pre-starts, toolbox meetings, and work planning sessions.
  • Monitoring work quality, production targets, and operational performance throughout each shift.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, site procedures, standards, and critical risk controls.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring all personnel understand and fulfil their duty of care responsibilities.
  • Coordinating underground activities and liaising with contractors to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensuring all operators complete daily SWIC requirements and safety documentation.
  • Conducting workplace inspections, hazard reporting, and visual leadership interactions.
  • Investigating and reporting incidents in a timely manner and supporting corrective actions.
  • Assisting with workforce management, performance development, coaching, and disciplinary processes where required.
  • Supporting site administration requirements, including production reporting and employee-related documentation.
  • Summarising production activities and maintaining accurate shift records.

Our ideal candidate background includes

  • Previous experience working as an Underground Shift Supervisor.
  • Minimum 5 years' underground mining operations experience, or 2 years' experience as a qualified Mining Engineer.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing crews.
  • Sound knowledge of underground mining methods, safety systems, and operational best practices.
  • Experience managing safety, production, and quality outcomes in an underground environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
  • Full Australian working rights.

Required Qualifications & Tickets

  • Current Underground Shift Supervisor Ticket.
  • Current and valid Australian Manual Driver's Licence (C Class minimum).
  • Current Working at Heights Ticket.
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months).
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical including Drug and Alcohol Screening.
  • Relevant underground mining qualifications, licences, and certifications.
