About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Track Maintenance to join our team based in Tom Price. The position will be responsible for leading and supporting our Rail Maintenance and Asset Replacement teams, through safe execution of rail maintenance activities, and the development of safety and productivity improvement initiatives. This is a FIFO role from Perth (or one of our regional centres) to Tom Price on a 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on 7 days off roster. Or alternatively, a residential role based in Tom Price on the same roster.

This role is a great opportunity to join a high performance team, and contribute to initiatives which drive improvements in the safe and successful delivery of maintenance execution activities.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will:

  • Supervise teams of highly skilled and experienced Maintainers, to complete a wide variety of PM01 maintenance, and break down response activities, placing safety first at all times
  • Champion the development and the delivery of safety and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Oversee the delivery of an effective plan for the maintenance of Turnouts, Level Crossings, Track Geometry, and other track assets. As well as coordinate the response and recovery works around derailments, wagon defects, and track asset failures.
  • Conduct QA/QC and quality safety interactions, to ensure all work is executed safely, to the highest quality, and in line with business COP requirements
  • Coordinate the distribution of equipment and materials provided to the team in support of their activities and ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve planned outcomes
  • Develop, review and update procedures and training documentation for all areas of work
  • Monitor and measure team performance to ensure that training, safety, production and cost targets are met
  • Ensure that the budget is managed in accordance with the plan and deliver improvements through PDP and other improvement initiatives
  • Undertake leadership development training, with exposure to Response, Maintenance, Asset Replacement, and Contractor teams
  • Facilitate professional and personal development of maintenance personnel
  • Champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will preferably have:

  • Experience in Track maintenance or construction – execution or planning
  • Experience working with SAP work management and Microsoft Office Suite – a strong IS&T capability
  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude in Rio Tinto’s business management systems and processes
  • Exposure to contractor management systems
