We are taking applications for Supervisors – Training Capability Development to join the team based at several sites in the Pilbara. We are looking for Professional Training supervisors with the right mindsets, values, and behaviours to onboard and develop our people and deliver on Rio Tinto’s core values of Care, Courage and Curiosity.

The technical training team scope includes mining operations, drill & blast operations, mobile equipment maintenance, fixed plant and dewatering. Training requirements are defined by standardised learning pathway frameworks which incorporate the different levels of experience for new starters and existing employee ongoing development within each workstream.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Capability Development Superintendent the successful candidates will:
- Ensure the safe delivery and execution of key accountabilities across the site training team
- Work closely with Operational Supervisors and CD Advisor to develop, forecast and execute the monthly forecast and weekly site training plan.
- Forward planning and scheduling resources across several teams as required
- Lead the development of technical stream and coordination of equipment/logistics and trainers
- Remaining flexible to pivot support and resource across the Technical Training team when required
- Assist leaders to support overall productivity and regulatory compliance
- Creating a positive and engaged experience for new employees as we welcome them into the Rio family

What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- People engagement and leadership skills, ability to communicate and consult effectively at all levels
- Excellent communication skills to influence, engage and build strong rapport with key stakeholders
- A passion and curiosity to build knowledge of your stakeholders and the work they do
- Effective time management skills, the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities and demonstrated ability to support diverse groups to achieve desired outcomes
- Proven problem-solving ability to implement solutions that drive desired outcomes
- Scheduling and computer skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
- Experience in leading technical training and team management Certificate IV Training and Assessment (seen as advantageous but not essential)
